My book: Saddam, The Origins, The Rise And The Fall |
|
Sunday, 10 February 2008 |
Today’s posting to this blog is the first part of the introduction to my book on Saddam Hussein and his regime which I am going to start serializing on this website. The book was lying on the shelf for a very long time after finishing it at the end of 2003, because nobody in the publishing world was interested in giving it a chance to see the light. I am going to continue posting parts of the book on The Hanodi Letter and hope for the best. I very sincerely hope that you would like this piece of work and would very much welcome your suggestions and critiques; you have always been very kind and unusually supportive.

Saddam Hussein: My book, the story of the story |
|

Today’s update is about a story of a book that I have written about Saddam Hussein and his murderous regime, which is now part of the recent history of our unfortunate country’s very turbulent history. I suppose it is to a very great extent is the result of our people’s disinterest in history and the lessons which could be gleaned from studying it. For this very simple reason I have written a book on Saddam Hussein hoping that having lived under his tyranny for more than 35 years and enduring all kinds of difficulties and deprivations I might be able to say something true and rational about those terrible years. The story of Saddam and his regime is a very important part of the recent history of Iraq, it is a big mistake to put it behind us and forget it. I think it is absolutely necessary to study it in a most rational and objective way.

The Hanoudi Letter: A Third Anniversary and a New Record |
|
Monday, 24 December 2007 |
When I started this blog, I was worried that I was wasting my time and that the exercise I was contemplating was futile and a waste of time. Three outstanding individuals: A lady American radio journalist, and a highly treasured young American officer and one of my nephews a real computer wizard, these three believed that what I was contemplating was a very good idea and that I would be saying something rational and objective in a world which is dominated by media giants who are not informing the people, but rather misinforming them. The first installment of The Hanoudi Letter appeared on the 10th of December 2004, it was a piece about Iraq’s old history which was entitled The Mesopotamian Civilization, this was followed over the long months of the Iraqi nightmare by pieces about that and other topics which seem to have justified my friends’ faith because on the third anniversary of The Hanoudi Letter the number of its visitors has crossed the 250,000 mark.
